We never sell your data. Never have, never will.
Middlepace is a ninety-day program for couples, on the web and by text, run by Middlepace LLC. This policy says what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Much of what the program handles is health information, so the consumer health data privacy policy covers that part in more detail.
Before the program opens
Right now this site is a description of the program and these policies. It has no forms, sets no cookies, and runs no scripts. The rest of this policy describes the program and applies from the day it opens.
What we collect
- Your phone number. It is how you sign in and how the program texts you.
- What you tell the program. Your private answers, your quiz answers, your check-ins, how far you are through the readings, and the days and things you pick.
- Your purchase. Our payment processor takes the payment and tells us when it goes through. We never see your card.
- Your email address, which you give at checkout. It is used for three things and nothing else: your receipt, a sign-in link when you ask for one, and, only if you opt in, the advertising match described below. We never email you otherwise.
- How you use the site. The pages you open, the link or ad that brought you, your browser and device, your IP address, and any errors.
Each partner answers in private. Your partner never sees your answers and you never see theirs. The program shows the two of you the middle and nothing else. We never ask for your partner’s number. They give it themselves if they want texts.
How we use it
- To run the program, which means signing you in, working out the middle, delivering each week’s reading or quiz, and sending the texts you asked for.
- To see which ads and pages work.
- To keep the site working and secure.
Nothing from inside the program is used for advertising.
Who we share it with
We work with service providers that help us run Middlepace, for things like payments, text messages, hosting, security, and error monitoring. Our text messaging provider is SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certified. Our payment processor is PCI DSS Level 1, the highest level there is. Each one gets only what its job needs and may use it only to do that job for us.
We advertise on social media. When someone signs up or buys, our server tells the advertising platform it happened, with technical details like the ad that brought them, their browser, and their IP address. If you agree when you make your account, it also sends the email address from your receipt, hashed, so the platform can match the purchase to an account. We do this for one reason, to make our ads better so they reach more people who need Middlepace. That is all it gets. Never your phone number, never your answers, never anything from inside the program.
We never sell your data. Never have, never will. What you tell the program is private, full stop. Beyond the providers and the advertising match above, we hand data over only when a court or the law requires it, or to whoever takes over Middlepace if the business is ever sold.
Texts
Your phone number is your account. There is no password. You sign in with a code we text you, or with a link emailed to you if you ask for one. The program also texts you when the week’s reading or quiz lands, with a reminder if it sits undone, when your partner has answered, on the days you pick, and for a check-in that night. Those you can turn off. Texts never say what the program is about. Message frequency varies with the days you schedule. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to stop the reminders and check-ins, and HELP for help. Sign-in codes keep working.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Your phone number and your agreement to receive texts go only to the provider that delivers our texts, and to nobody else. Everything this policy says we share elsewhere excludes them.
Cookies
Today the site sets none. Once the program opens, we use our own cookies to keep you signed in, hold your first answers before you make an account, count visits, and apply an affiliate’s discount. There are no third-party cookies on our pages. The payment page is our payment processor’s own and sets its own.
How long we keep it
Your account, answers, and check-ins stay for as long as you keep your account, and are deleted within 30 days of a request. Visit records are deleted after 13 months. Purchase records are kept for seven years, because tax law asks for them.
Your choices
Write to hello@middlepace.com to see what we have about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to take back your agreement to the advertising match. Reply STOP to any text to stop texts. Deleting your account does not delete your partner’s, because theirs is theirs.
We may confirm a request with a code texted to the number on the account. We answer within 45 days and never charge for it. The consumer health data privacy policy lists the extra rights some states give everyone here.
Keeping it safe
Everything is encrypted in transit and at rest, and only the people who run Middlepace can reach the database.
Who it is for
Middlepace is for adults 18 and over in the United States. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger, and if we learn we have, we delete it.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change would mean using data we already have in a new way, we will ask you first.
